Trekking in Morocco has to be one of the best ways to discover this intoxicating country, getting off the beaten track and exploring the Atlas Mountians visiting traditional Berber villages that have changed very little in centuries while climbing 4000m peaks makes Morocco a great destination for Adventure.

Mount Toubkal Climb

At 4,167m, Mount Toubkal is the highest mountain in North Africa. The climb to the summit is challenging, but it requires little mountaineering experience the panoramic views from the summit over the High Atlas are truely outstanding.

After our arrival in Marrakech we have short transfer to the berber village of Imlil were we spend the night in a local Gite,the following day we slowly make our way to the Toubkal Refuge we pass through terraced fields and remote villages which give us a great insight into berber life.

After a night at the refuge we start our final steep summit ascent of Mt Toubkal as you gain altitude you are rewarded with dramatic views over the Atlas Mountains and Marrakech. 

Once on the summit of North Africa's hightest mountain you will be totally exhilarated by your sense of achievement.

Toubkal Winter Climb & Winter Skills

Winter is a great time to climb Mt Toubkal it offers a true winter mountaineering experience the mountains are virtually deserted apart from the local Berbers and mountaineering enthusiasts.

Our Winter climb takes the same route as our summer climb except we allow one extra day at the rufuge, the use of crampons and ice axe is required on most trips and you will get plenty of time to practice your winter skills before summit day, this trip is designed as a non-technical winter climb.

Some winter walking experience is recommended before joining this trip but not essential.

Essaouira Extension

Essaouira was built by the French architect in Vauban style it's influences have given a unique result to the town which became the first trade harbour of Morocco in the late 18th century. With a mild climate beautiful wild beaches and the old medina to explore or just relax in one of many the open air fish restaurants Essaouira is the perfect place to relax after completing your Toubkal climb.

There's an endless list of activities for those in need of an adrenalin rush such as Quad Biking, Horse Riding, Surfing and Kite Surfing. We have teamed up with a local Kite surf & surf schoool so you can combine your Toubkal climb with learning to Kite Surf.
