Cotopaxi (Ecuador)

Cotopaxi is Ecuador's highest active volcano at 5897m, located in the Eastern Cordillera and is the cornerstone of the Cotopaxi National Park. Cotopaxi volcano is also considered as the most beautiful and most symmetrically perfect mountain cone. The name "Coto-Paxi" is of Quichua origin (Inca language still being spoken among the Indians of the Andes) and means "the neck of the moon" Our expedition tackles the best volcanoes in Ecuador, with a careful program to assist acclimatisation and ensure the best chance of success.
The use of crampons and ice axes is required on Cotopaxi ascents although this trip is designed as a non-technical climb. Some winter walking experience is recommended before joining this trip but is not essential. You should however be an experienced summer walker.
