Machame Route (7 days)
Kilimanjaro, named 'Kilema Kyaro by the Chagga people meaning 'that which connot be conquered' is situated south of the equator in Tanzania at 19,340 feet (5896m) Kilimanjaro is Africa's highest mountain and the highest "free standing" mountain in the world, where huge glaciers flow down from the summit. Spectacular views and beautiful ice formations are the reward for the successful trekker, as well as the satisfaction of "topping out" this mighty African peak. Any reasonably fit person who enjoys walking can reach the summit of Kilimanjaro, our itinerary is designed to give you the best chance or reaching the summit.
Trekking Info
This trek is graded strenuous/tough and is challenging, the main challenge lies in the altiude. This 7 day Machame route allows better acclimatisation to the altitude than other routes. There is a night ascent to the summit. All our guides go through a bi annual training program and our logistic team based in Arusha monitors your climb form start to finish.
Our Route
Our route takes the less-trodden Machame route, allowing you to camp and fully appreciate the splendour of your surroundings and clear night skies. The terrain changes as you asend the mountain, passing through thick forest, moorland and scree en-route to the highest point of the crater Uhuru Peak.
Day 1: Transfer to Machame Gate - Trek to Machame Camp
Day 2: Machame Camp - Shira Camp
Day 3: Shira Camp - Barranco Camp
Day 4: Barranco Camp - Karanga Camp
Day 5: Karanga Camp - Barafu Camp
Day 6: Barafu Camp - Summit - Mweka Camp
Day 7: Mweka Camp - Mweka Gate - Arusha

Please note that in 2012 we are only operating departures on demand rather than listing set dates. For a new departure we require just 2 people.
Accommodation and Airport Transfers are not included in this itinerary, please contact us should you like us to arrange Transfers and Accommodation. Pre and Post accommodation must be booked pre arrival and Adventurous Ewe informed to allow us to do our pre climb briefing and kit check.
