Thank you for your interest in our Sahara Trek Challenge with Adventurous Ewe raising funds for Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
We provide an essential Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) throughout the county and beyond, delivering the best medical care possible to anyone who lives, works or travels in Wiltshire.
Our paramedics are trained in Critical Care skills, enabling them to perform enhanced surgical procedures and administer addition pain relief and medication. The air ambulance can be ready for take-off in just two minutes, and reach anywhere in Wiltshire within nine minutes. The speed of our helicopter, along with the skill of our crew, can make the difference between life and death.
We can fly up to 19 hours a day and attend, on average, 2-3 potentially lifesaving missions a day.
Wiltshire Air Ambulance relies entirely on public donations to raise the £2.5 million a year needed to keep this lifesaving service and crew flying. We simply couldn’t do it without people like you who are willing to do something amazing to support us! We have 16 places available on a first come first served basis, heading out to Morocco on October 10th 2015.
The Sahara desert stretches from the snow-capped mountains of Morocco in the west to the Red Sea coast 4800km to the east. We will be trekking the Hammada which is the most southern part of the Moroccan Sahara. With proud Berbers as our guides and a small caravan of camels to carry our supplies we will trek across this stunning landscape.
Our route take us from Marrakech crossing the High Atlas to the desert gate way of Quarzazate to the most southern areas of Morocco, the main challenge lies in the remoteness and the heat of the desert, each day has been carefully designed by our local Berber guides to give you the most challenging and enjoyable trek possible in this spectacular desert. Each day the landscape changes from the Sahara stretching as far as the eye can see, huge rolling dunes to the multi coloured rocks.
