Nevado de Cachi 6380mts
This rarely climbed peak on the Argentine puna is a true Andean gem at 6380mts We will climb Nevado de Cachi over 8 days using horses as our support. Despite its height, Nevada de Cachi is not a technical climb. However, it is a very tough climb and should not be underestimated. Previous high altitude experience is necessary .

Day 1 - From Salta we head off into the Andes range towards the small village of Cachi. The first day we spend there arranging our equipment and acclimaticing.
Day 2 - We start our day after the porting mules are ready. We head off from El Algarrobal to start climbing into the Andes through old Inca roads. We reach the pass that divides Valle de las Cuevas from Cachi adentro, 3700mts high. After a small downhill we get to the valley and have our lunch nearby Don Fabian´s house, an old settler of over 80 years old. By the beginning of the afternoon we are already arriving to las Cuevas, the place were we pitch our tents and rest for the night. Aprox. 4220mts
Day 3 - We spend the day doing small walks in order to acclimatise properly for the days to come.
Day 4 - We head off towards our new higher campsite, a 6hs walk await us until we get to La Ollada where we camp with incredible views of Nevado de Cachi and the way that will lead us up. Aprox altitude.4820mts.
Day 5 - We take our rucksacks and start walking to our last campsite, Nivometro aprox. 5200mts. We arrive soon after lunch and get our tents ready. We sleep for a few hours in order to gain strength. We will start our way to the summit early next morning.
Day 6 - We leave our tents at around 1am with a small rucksack taking only the essential. The Canaleta leads us on our way to the Antecumbre where we have a long rest only to hit the highest summit of the Nevado afterwards Cumbre Del Libertador General San Martin. Depending on weather conditions we will attempt to reach some of the other summits. After that we head down to our campsite.
Day 7 - After packing down our stuff we come down from Nivometro to find the mules waiting for us (they will take our stuff all the way down to Cachi.). We reach Cachi in the afternoon and celebrate our victory.
