Arrive Marrakech and spend time exploring this amazing city and have lunch before our 1.5hr transfer by minibus to the Berber mountain village of Imlil (1700mts) where we stay the night in a guest house and make final preparations for the trek.
Imlil to Aziib Tamsoult
After breakfast we load up all equipment and food supplies and leave Imlil for Azib Tamsoult. As we leave the village of Imlil we pass through walnut and cherry orchids making our way up the Mizane valley before heading west over the Tizi Mzik pass (2489mt) for lunch. The trail then slowly leads it way to Azib Tamsoult (2400mt) our camp for the night. Approx 6hrs walking
Azib Tamsoult to Netler Refuge
Today is a planned acclimatisation day. We leave Camp early morning and our aim for today is the summit of Aglzim (3500mt).Once on the summit we will have time to enjoy the stunning views over the High Atlas before starting our decent into camp. Finally arriving at camp (3206mt) in the Mizane Valley at the foot of Mt Toubkal late afternoon. Approx 7hrs walking
Early in the morning we make our attempt on the summit of Jebel Toubkal (4167mt), the highest peak in Northern Africa. Our route takes us up the south cirque, crossing the stream above the refuge. The walking is relatively straightforward, but the scree and the altitude will make the going quite difficult in parts. The views along the way make the climb more than worthwhile. When we reach the summit there are unrestricted views in every direction, from the Marrakesh Plain to the High Atlas in the north and as far south as the Anti-Atlas and the Sahara. We will retrace our steps as we return down the mountain and head back towards Imlil for late afternoon. Approx 10 hrs walking
Imlil to Marrakech
After a relaxing breakfast it’s a short drive back to Marrakech. Time permitting, we can explore Marrakech, before transferring to the airport for our flight home.

Trekking experience and level of difficulty – ‘Tough’
This is a strenuous trek in a remote area of North Africa. It is graded ‘Tough’ due to the warm conditions and high-altitude trekking. The trip is designed for confident trekkers who are looking for a short yet rewarding mountain ascent. Although this trek is not technically difficult, you should be an experienced walker as trails can be very stony. Most routes follow mule trails but there are some rough paths that involve walking on scree. All 5 days walking include full porterage and you should be prepared for a couple of long days with some boulders and steep sections (maximum 8-9 hours).
The temperature at particular times of year can make a difference to how tough this trek feels. Please note that during the summer months of July and August, Morocco can get very hot during therefore departures during this time may not be suitable if you struggle with the heat. In addition, please be prepared for some stormy weather during the summer months. There can also be snow patches in late April/early May and from the end of September. We will advise no more than two weeks before departure if extra equipment/clothing is necessary. As with any trek in mountainous/high altitude areas, safety is paramount and your leader will always make decisions to amend the itineraries to ensure the safety of the whole group.
