Adventurous Ewe

Our Story

Founder and Managing Director of Adventurous Ewe, James (Jim) Young.

After working in the mental health industry for a number of years, Jim left the shores of the UK as an International Expedition Leader for the well renowned tour operator, Exodus. With spending 12 years guiding overland trips to all pockets of the world, fixing overload trucks on the salt flats of the Atacama Desert, dodging numerous elephant charges through African campsites and exploring remote areas across China and Nepal, Jim returned to his Welsh routes in Snowdonia. Now with an immense passion for travel, bucket loads of worldly experience and enthusiasm to show more people the incredible places & experiences the world has to offer, Jim gained all the necessary qualifications in mountain leading, cycle leading, kayak instructing and water safety and set up Adventurous Ewe in 2007. Starting small with hikes around Snowdonia, The Lake District and the Scottish Highlands, the company soon branched out to manage the classic treks of Kilimanjaro, Machu Picchu and the Great Wall of China.

Today Adventurous Ewe takes groups of intrepid travellers, corporate organisations and charity supporters across the globe whether it be trekking, mountain climbing, cycling, kayaking, gorge walking, snow-shoeing or helping with community projects. Adventurous Ewe specialises in listening to your needs and creating tailored events with extraordinary outcomes. Now we are a small team of experienced adventure travel, event management and third sector specialists who combine a passion for exploration, ethical & sustainable event delivery with a high level of professionalism. Adventurous Ewe designs and delivers incredible outdoor challenges for people, charities or companies looking to achieve greater things. They can be anything from an accessible one-day trek, cycle or kayak challenge in the UK to gruelling multi-day expeditions worldwide. Our events have the power to make a difference. They have a measurable impact on employee motivation, health and well-being, fundraising, internal culture, personal fulfilment and the way people and clients perceive an organisation. We work with budgets from £1k to over £100k. We deliver international expeditions and specialise in creating new itineraries to more remote corners of the world such as the Arctic Snow-shoe Trek and Rwanda Cycling Challenge. We also create bespoke events for charity and corporate clients to hit a wide range of objectives. Some of our cherished clients include Boots + Macmillan partnership, British Airways Flying Start, Taylor Wimpey and Breast Cancer Now. We live by our culture #ewecandoit.
