Book and Travel with Confidence
Welcome back, you’re in safe hands. When you’re ready to book your next trip, we’re with you every step of the way ensuring your safety and well-being and that of our leaders & crew and the communities we visit, always. Your safety and well-being is our top priority.
If you want to book your next trip but worried about what happens if your trip is unable to go ahead? Or want to know more about how we are planning to keep you safe on our trips? Our Travel with Confidence policy should hopefully provide all you need to know. The policy will evolve as time goes on and as we continue to monitor local public health recommendations, government guidelines and WHO advice, but what won’t change is our commitment to keeping you safe as you discover incredible adventures around this amazing planet.
1. Book with confidence
We understand that flexibility is now a key factor when booking a trip, and as such, we have adapted our Booking Terms & Conditions accordingly.
We believe these terms and conditions for making a booking are amongst the most generous in the travel industry right now, and we hope they will give you the confidence, when you feel ready, to go ahead and book your next adventure.
The key points are:
Financial protection: If your adventure needs to be cancelled for any reason, like say a global pandemic, you won’t be left stuck and you’ll be offered plenty of alternative options thanks to our financial protection through arranged by Towergate Travel through Zurich Insurance PLC. What’s more, in the very unlikely event of Adventurous Ewe going under, you’ll get your money back and be repatriated if you were on a trip at the time.
Plus if you opt to book your flights through our Flight Agent, Travel with Jules, you are covered as the company has ABTA and ATOL bonds in place (ABTA P6746, ATOL 6053).
Secure online payments: All bookings can be made online with Mastercard, Visa and debit card or via BACS. You can also opt to pay via monthly instalments. We use WorldPay to handle all our online payments as it is a payment platform which is a global leader in payment processing offering superior security for both you and us as a company. For any further info or to organise monthly instalment payments, please get in touch with us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Pay in instalments, interest free: We’re well aware that adventures can be a significant investment so we’ve set out to make it easy to afford. Once you’ve put down your deposit, you can pay the remaining balance off in monthly instalments with no extra charges so you can get out there and live your dream.
Flexible date changes: If you need to change your booking 60 days or more before the start date you can make flexible date change to another trip, subject to availability, without incurring any admin costs. Despite there being a fair amount of admin work on our side with the transfer of individual bookings, we will not charge an admin fee and believe we are one of only a handful of tour operators who offer this free service.
Cancellation flexibility: For any bookings made up until to 31 July 2020, for an overseas trip departing before 31 March 2021, you can cancel your booking and receive a full refund of your deposit up to 60 days before the trip departure date or transfer your booking to a later date without incurring any admin fees.
Postponement of trips due to COVID-19: Please rest assured that we are carefully monitoring all countries and associated F&CO guidelines where we operate our overseas trips. If Adventurous Ewe is unable to operate a trip in the host country due to Covid-19 or other pandemics, we’ll offer you the following options:
- postpone your trip to a later departure of the same challenge to 2021 or 2022
- join any other overseas trip in 2021 or 2022
- transfer your place to another person
- receive a refund of monies paid for the trip
You choose to cancel your trip within 60 days of departure despite no official advice against travel: We respect your decision if you no longer wish to travel regardless of the destination or official advice. If you choose to cancel your trip, we will happily make those arrangements for you though please note, if there is no F&CO advice against travel, our standard cancellation terms will apply.
Travel Insurance: Travel insurance is compulsory for all our overseas expeditions. When arranging your policy we recommend that it not only overs you against medical and personal accident risks (to include repatriation costs and air ambulance or helicopter rescue services where appropriate), the activities you are undertaking, personal liability, cancellation, curtailment and loss of luggage and personal effects but also now covers you for pandemics and epidemics including COVID-19. There are some insurance companies who now offer this service such as True Traveller and Campbell Irvine. Please note, that we do not have a partnership with a travel insurance company so that you can find and purchase the policy that best suits you and without paying any additional commissions.
2. Travel with Confidence
We are proud to have adopted the new global Safe Travels protocols with health and hygiene global standardised practices as produced by the World Travel and Tourism Council. Adventurous Ewe has received the World Travel and Tourism Council’s Safe Travels stamp, which provides travellers with assurance that we have implemented health and hygiene protocols that are aligned with WTTC’s Safe Travels Protocols.
Following the COVID-19 Industry Standard in Partnership with The National Tourist Organisations of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, we have followed and implemented government and industry COVID-19 guidelines, ensuring processes are in place to maintain cleanliness and aid social/physical distancing.
Adventure Travel COVID-19 Health & Safety Guidelines
We are also proud to be implementing ATTA’s COVID-19 Health & Safety Guidelines , developed in collaboration with Cleveland Clinic, across all our trips.
Please note that these measures are not exhaustive and will evolve over time as we monitor and adapt to local and national public health recommendations. If you have any questions or concerns about any particular trip or destination, please get in touch with us.
We carefully select our local operators and accommodation providers and are working with them to review their procedures to further protect your health and safety. We pride ourselves in travelling in small groups and staying at smaller, locally owned hotels, guesthouses, etc and where possible, particularly in Snowdonia, use a locally owned lodge which we can organise a private booking for our group only. This means fewer guests and better social distancing practices.
Our trips are based on twin room share in order to save you money on costs. If you prefer to have your own room or tent, we can organise this for you subject to availability. There is a single room supplement cost for your own room or tent however we strive to keep this cost to a minimum and only pass on the charges as direct from the accommodation provider.
For solo travellers on our small group trips who opt to share a room with a fellow member of the team, you will share a room with that person for the entire trip.
Our vehicle transfers are via private vehicles for our groups only (not shared with other passengers). The vehicles are hygienically deep cleaned daily and hand sanitiser will be provided on entry and exit of the vehicle. All drivers will be issued with PPE and will follow national policies together with our health & safety guidelines.
You will be assigned seating allocations to ensure social distancing and to minimise the risk of cross contamination. You will also be required to wear face-masks until further notice as well.
Leaders & Crew
Your Local Leader is an integral part of your trip and are well versed in our new Health, Safety and Well-being operating procedures. All local guides have up-to-date knowledge of the nearest local clinics, testing procedures and health policies in each destination and measures taken if a member of the team develops any symptoms of COVID-19. They are also expertly trained and experienced in every field of your adventure, bilingual and qualified in first aid and/or a Wilderness First responder. They also have a huge passion for what they do and have plenty of knowledge ready to share with you. They are responsible for ensuring the complete safety, well-being and enjoyment of the team whilst also retaining a flexible and fun attitude. The Leaders have radio and satellite phone contact with base, the local office and Adventurous Ewe’s HQ.
For most trips you will also be accompanied by an Adventurous Ewe Leader who is fully experienced and certified and has been carefully selected to ensure you have the best experience with a bit of humour thrown in for good measure. Your Leader is also has remote first aid qualifications and experience and will be carrying emergency first aid items.
Food is a big part of a travel experience, be it sampling new cuisine to fuelling you for your activities ahead, so we know that it is crucial that you feel safe and eat well whenever stopping for a meal. We will continue to ensure good hygiene is maintained whilst also supporting local restaurants in the countries we visit. Our local restaurants are carefully selected to ensure good hygiene, quality food and physical distancing is consistently practiced.
Small group travel
Even before the new normal of social distancing emerged globally, we operated in the realm of small group travel to minimise our impact on the environment, allow more respect towards local communities and culture, to maximise your safety and well-being and to make your travel experience more authentic. Whether it be enjoying the peacefulness of a colourful desert sunset whilst perched on a sand-dune, trekking as a small team and reaching the mountain peak together for that all emotive high-five or meeting local people and being immersed in their way of life. On average our group size is around 12 people which is ideal for travel experiences and social distancing. It’s the experience and the stories that you’ll share for years to come with new friends who come from all walks of life. For added confidence you can also book a private bubble group trip with members of your own flock.
We cannot ensure your safety alone and we’ll need everyone who travels with us to take an equal share of responsibility in following guidelines and taking whatever precautions they can to help us keep you and any fellow travellers safe. On booking your trip you’ll be provided with top tips on how to keep yourself, your fellow travel pals and your leaders & crew safe. When on an Adventurous Ewe trip, the entire group ‑ you, your travelling pals, the guides and crew alike ‑ are a team who share the same needs for safety and well-being in the environments we travel through.
Anyone (including you, leaders, crew and drivers) who exhibits possible symptoms of COVID-19 will be required to get themselves tested – with our full assistance, of course, if needed – at the earliest possible opportunity and to self-isolate until results are received. In the unfortunate instance of a positive result we will provide all and any assistance we can and ensure that everyone who may have come into contact with the affected party within the previous 14 days is notified as soon as possible as part of globally recognised track and trace schemes.
Thanking you in advance for supporting us in introducing these important measures to helps us make travel both enjoyable and safe for everyone!
