Overview
The Foundation of Light’s 25th anniversary calls for something bold, meaningful and packed with the spirit of the North East — so in 2026, you’ll step into the Lake District to take on an extraordinary challenge: 25 Peaks in 25 Hours.
Across two big trekking days, you’ll journey through the heart of England’s largest national park, linking together a chain of legendary summits that define this UNESCO World Heritage landscape. From the rugged shoulders of Helvellyn to the sweeping ridgelines around Great Gable, every climb brings a new panorama — craggy skylines, high mountain tarns, deep valleys and the kind of wild beauty the Lakes are known for.
You’ll ascend over 4,262 metres, even higher than Mt Toubkal (North Africa’s highest peak), and stand on Scafell Pike, England’s highest summit at 978m. It’s tough, exhilarating and packed with moments that stay with you long after the final peak is behind you.
And at the heart of it all? Purpose. Every step supports the Foundation of Light and the wider Region of Sport collaboration — helping open more doors for young people across the North East to get active, build confidence and thrive.
With a celebration dinner waiting at the finish — and the potential for VIP guests to join the occasion — this is more than a challenge. It’s a milestone year, a collective effort and an opportunity to be part of something bigger than the mountains themselves.
Ready to lace up and represent? This is your chance.
