Overview

Take on the Slovenia Multi Activity Adventure, with the soaring peaks of the Julian Alps to the sparkling blue-green lake of Bohinj flanked by the lush green forest and picturesque valleys, this is the ultimate setting for an incredible adventure.

Immerse yourself in the spectacular mountains and snowcapped peaks to ascend Mt Triglav, Slovenia’s highest peak at 2864m. The climb to the summit is outstanding and excitingly airy along a breath-taking trail which offers some brilliant scrambling and sections of via ferrata. You will be rewarded with incredible panoramic views from the summit across the Julian Alps and as far as neighbouring Austria, Italy and Croatia. Summiting Triglav is the Holy Grail that all Slovenians aim to complete at least once in their life as a right of passage.

It’s then time to swap your boots for a bike and embark on an exciting adventure along scenic cycling trails. Your cycling route runs along the banks of the Sava Bohinjka River in the Lower Bohinj Valley and through the alpine villages of the Upper Bohinj Valley. With a mixture of tarmac and trails, your local guide will show you some hidden gems that the route passes.

To finish it’s on to the shores of the crystal-clear emerald glacial Lake Bohinj to jump onboard your kayak and  paddle down the Sava Bohinjka river. The scenery is breath-taking as you travel down the river riding over small sections of fun rapids.

With more than half of its total surface still covered in forest, Slovenia does more than simply claim it’s ‘green’, it really is one of the greenest countries on earth and we can’t wait to welcome you to this earthly paradise.

Leaving your day-packs at the hut you can travel light on your final 400 metre ascent along the East Ridge. The route is outstanding and excitingly airy as you follow an exhilarating trail of via ferrata to the summit climbing a series of cables and ladders. This means you will be wearing a harness which is attached to the fixed ropes known as Via Ferrata.

The experienced Guide will be on hand to offer help and support. The scrambling is excellent alongside a breath-taking mountain setting and stunning views. Vaccinations & allergies
Vaccinations

Apart from the recent COVID-19 pandemic there are no other health risks in Slovenia. We are monitoring and activating the guidelines and recommendations put in place by the respective governments and World Health Organisation as a result of COVID-19. Severe allergies

If you have a severe allergy please inform us at the time of booking. We will do all we can to help, but unfortunately we are unable to guarantee an allergy free environment on this trip. Weather

The climbing season for Mount Triglav is from July through October. Slovenia has a mixed alpine climate with summer temperatures in the range of 18 to 25°C. In the mountains cool mornings are normally followed by warm pleasant days, with temperatures in the Alps being ideal for walking. Summer weather in Triglav National Park is quite cool; when it’s pushing 30°C on the Slovenian plains, it may be just 10°C on Triglav. It often drops below freezing at night, and snow may persist on the peaks throughout the year. Weather on the mountain is highly variable, bringing unexpected wind, rain and snow.

We recommend that you check the mountain weather forecast in the days leading up to your trip by clicking here

For further info on purchasing an Adventurous Ewe Water-to-Go bottle please click here and help reduce the volume of single use plastic in this pristine alpine environment.

Please let us know when booking if you have any special dietary requirements or allergies prior to travel so we can make the necessary arrangements for you.

Water-to-Go bottles

The impact of single use plastic is having on our landscape, wildlife and oceans, it is now more important than ever that we all make changes in order to help our planet. We may not be a huge global company but we’re passionate about playing our part and trying to make a huge difference collectively. Together we can dramatically reduce our consumption of single use plastics and support our responsible travel ethos of ‘Take nothing but photos, leave nothing but boot-prints, keep nothing but memories.’ You can make a difference too with taking part in one of our short haul trips and purchasing one of these environmentally friendly reusable alternative bottles compared to single-use plastic water bottles. Grab a Water-to-Go bottle through Adventurous Ewe and receive a 15% discount. Even better, Water-to-Go will donate a further 15% to our charity partner, Cool Earth. Slovenia’s Sustainable Tourism

As part of our commitment to the Future of Tourism, we proudly support the development of more of our trips in countries who are actively making a difference to sustainable tourism. Slovenia is navigating a strong course of action with forming The Green Scheme of Slovenian Tourism (GSST), a national programme and certification scheme operating under the SLOVENIA GREEN brand that:

  • unites all efforts towards the sustainable development of tourism in Slovenia,
  • offers destinations and tourism providers concrete tools to assess and improve their sustainable operations,
  • promotes green action through the Slovenia Green brand

The scheme’s key strategic objective is to introduce sustainable models to Slovenian tourism, to both tourism service providers and destinations. All the objectives of the strategic guidelines are in line with sustainable development and demonstrate concern for the economic, social, cultural and natural environment.

“The Slovenian Tourist Board has pledged itself to sustainable development with the national strategic guideline and, in doing so, has taken an important step towards the better sustainable development of the entire country. Tourism service providers and destinations are switching to sustainable, i.e. green, development.”

In 2019 Slovenia ranked highly in the Sustainable Destinations Top 100. The Top 100 list celebrates efforts of tourism destinations for responsible and sustainable tourism. Nominators had to provide extensive information on their destination sustainability efforts.

Thoughtful and Responsible Travel

Further to this, Adventurous Ewe is committed to delivering our trips in a responsible and ethical manner with sustainability at its core. We respect and aim to operate our adventures to benefit local people, their economy and the environment!

Some of the ethical features embedded in our Slovenia Triple Challenge are:

  • Using local crew who are qualified Guides, support crew and drivers who are all extremely knowledgeable and experienced
  • Staying in smaller-scale locally owned accommodation
  • Buying locally produced food and drink, and dining in locally owned restaurants
  • Minimising plastic waste wherever possible
  • Careful management of limited energy and water resources
  • Offering real life experiences which promote cross-cultural understanding
  • Operating with a ‘leave no trace’ ethos – take only memories, leave only footprints
  • Adventurous Ewe will make a financial contribution to the environmental charity, Cool Earth, as part of our business partnership.

 As Sir David Attenborough said:

“Helping Cool Earth to halt tropical deforestation makes a real difference. Perhaps the biggest difference we will make in our whole lives.”

We will continue to invest a % of our revenue into supporting critical conservation projects around the world through Cool Earth and we invite you, our valuable flock, to do the same. Please give what you can and help save the world’s rainforests today by simply clicking here. Just £2.50 will save 10 trees and lock up 10 tonnes of CO2.

Together, we can all make a difference in helping preserve this precious and wonderful planet.
